Enza Pecorari - soprano
Giulio Chiandetti - liuto
Massimo Somaglino - letture

![]() Enza Pecorari - voice ![]() The performance presents the "songs" that William Shakespeare (1564-1616) included in his theatrical works. These love songs either belonged to the popular repertoire of the time or were written by Shakespeare himself. Their use in his plays always had a purpose as they expressed relief and comfort to the pains of love or they provided a moment of psychological introspection not without allegorical references. You will also hear instrumental pieces for the lute and lute-songs written by John Dowland (1562/3?-1626), one of the most important lutenists and composers of the times, some of which explicitly refer to Shakespearean characters. The words and music come together to offer quotations, allusions and moods that exalt the primitive force that inspired them i.e. Love. The actor Massimo Somaglino, who will recite excerpts from Shakespeares plays, the soprano Enza Pecorari and lutenist Giulio Chiandetti will take us on this captivating journey. |
